As we hit the final days of July, summer heatwaves are in full swing across cities. If you live in an apartment or high-rise condo, you might be noticing a disheartening trend on your balcony garden:

During late July afternoon sun, those glass panes and concrete slabs act like parabolic mirrors, bouncing intense UV rays back onto the undersides of your plant leaves. Your plants are essentially being baked from above and below simultaneously.
