3 BEST WATER FEATURES FOR YOUR BACKYARD

By Hannah Jones,

One has not felt how therapeutic gardening is until one has experienced it. This is probably why a lot of people do it when they get older and have more time at home. Planting and building the perfect backyard takes time, a lot of attention and relaxes the mind. There is something so tranquil about a room full of flowers or plants and then watching them grow. The sweet floral and green nature aroma combined with crisp fresh air is blissful, however something to top it off and really turn your garden to the ultimate peaceful place is having some sort of water feature too.

Ponds add tranquility

Water is what we turn to for a sense of calm and clarity. Being close by to water is something we naturally build our lives around like going to the beach, or having a getaway by the lake. Above the ground water features like ponds can be great if you have a large garden. Building a stone wall around it can create a stunning visual landscape and planting flowers and lilypads inside will add pops of vibrancy and life. If big enough, you could have a decked out floorboard or walkway over water with giant stepping stones in between encompassing with simple asian designs.

A Wall Waterfall

Water makes the mind relax and think of the moment. How far we’ve come in life, perhaps what we want to achieve in the future. It can make us more focused, paint a clearer picture and also make you think more creatively. Hearing the sound of water flowing down like a waterfall will create a relaxing environment. When the sun’s reflection hits the wall work of art and makes the waterfall glisten like a thousand stars surely will be a conversation starter. A staple piece if you’re looking to go for an egyptian or mediterranean theme that will be soothing to the soul as well as pleasant on the eye.

Bird Bath Fountain

Surrounding ourselves with water in our homes can give us a mental boost and creating that serene space to wind down. Installing a fountain could not get any easier than having solar powered inventions like the Solar Bird Bath. All you’ve got to do is place it in the sunlight and it will automatically start pumping water sprays. Let it float in your pond, or place it in a pretty stone bird bath or a colorful urn for the little sweet birds to enjoy.

Whichever design you go for, take time to think about it carefully, some are easy to install straight away and bigger projects need more time. Bring out the characteristics of your home by creating a theme and adding beautiful water features for your backyard that you will love and be able to share with your friends and family.
